Buzz Lavine Memorial Contributions

Bike Walk Tompkins, at the suggestion of the Lavine family, is accepting memorial contributions in tribute to Buzz Lavine, a longtime champion for trails and cycling in Dryden (see obituary here).  Contributions will support a memorial bench along the Dryden Rail-Trail in Buzz's honor, providing trail users a comfortable space to rest while enjoying the trail that Buzz and his family loved.

A Dryden resident for over half a century, and a longtime member of the Dryden Planning Board, Buzz biked around Dryden and Ithaca for most of his life, commuting to work on campus by bike, some years even in winter months!  When, in more recent years, he couldn't bike anymore, his children gave him--to his delight--an electric trike for his 75th birthday.  With it, he made many wonderful memories riding with his grandchildren on the Dryden Rail Trail, the East Hill Rec Way, the Cayuga Waterfront Trail, and the Black Diamond Trail.
