Community Bike Shop

Our community bike shop provides quality mechanic support and a space for community members to wrench on their own bikes and purchase free-to-low cost refurbished bikes, parts, and components.

  • - Mechanic volunteers have basic bike mechanic skills and can assist with walk-ins and other specific projects dictated by our lead mechanic
    - Shop volunteers assist in other bike shop related tasks like organizing parts, cleaning refurbished bikes, and other essential tasks

  • - Mechanic volunteers help BWT mechanic staff to refurbish donated bikes until they are safe to ride
    - Volunteers who can put out bike donation calls in the community, help pick-up donations, and aid in the matching of refurbished bike to a new owner.

General Support

We have a lot of tasks that don’t fit neatly into specific categories, and they are great for volunteers who have irregular schedules or limited availability.

  • - Handy tasks like construction, painting, and other crafts
    - Dispersing of materials like helmets, paper advertisements, bike lights, and other giveaways
    - Many of our events require a level of coordination to provide hospitality like refreshments and snacks

Streets ALive! Ithaca

Streets Alive! Ithaca is, at its simplest, an afternoon where the streets are closed to cars and open to people to walk, bike, roll, dance, and play.
